Happy Birthday, Mom!

Oh my!  I can't believe it's been over a month since my last post....where does the time go???  It has been a super busy summer and there hasn't been much crafty time.  But, I did manage to make time this weekend to create because today is my mom's birthday....Happy Birthday, Mom!...and I had to make her a card.

The technique for this card can be found at Ellen Hutson, The Classroom.  I didn't have the Copic reinkers, so I used ink straight from the marker with the colorless blender.  It resulted in a paler effect, but I like it.

It was also time to create my Tim Holtz tag for August.  I did create a tag, and I loved it so much, that I used the same design for the cover of an envelope book I created for my mom which holds five different gift cards.  Tim, it's another beautiful design and I know my mom will love it!

The frame is a Memory Box die, the silhouette is a Dreamweaver stencil and the sentiment is from PaperTreyInk.  All other supplies & embellishments are Tim Holtz.

         

The idea for the book came from PaperTrey Ink's Stamp-a-faire Mini Book Challenge by Ashley Cannon Newell.  This is the second one I've made...super easy and lots of fun for the recipient!

A new online class started this week called Stretch Your Stamps.  Unfortunately, it was a busy week at work and now I am a whole week behind.  But, I did get a couple of cards made today and hopefully I can catch up on the rest this week.

I am still trying to catch up on a few projects in the Color Love class, which ended this week.  :-(  It was such a great class and really stretched my creativity.  This class definitely took me out of my comfort zone, but it was a blast!  Here are a couple more projects...

A creative July...

I've been having such a great time creating this month!  Joanne Sharpe's Color Love class has been amazing!  Totally out of my comfort zone, but I've learned so much about products I've had stored away for years and I'm really enjoying this creative time.  Here are a couple of watercolor doodles I created as part of the class...

And, of course, now that Tim is back from his journey to the Land of Oz (Australia), I had to create my version of the July 12 Tags of 2012...

And, the creativity won't stop any time soon (thank goodness)!  There are still a couple weeks left of Joanne's Color Love class AND...a new Online Card Class starts on Monday - Stretch Your Stamps!  Woo Hoo!  Can't wait!  I hope you have a wonderful and creative weekend!

Lovin' Color...

I'm taking a new online class called Color Love 101 with Joanne Sharpe.  I have to say, this is such a FUN class!  I took two other classes with Joanne and just didn't have the time to dedicate to them to complete the projects.  However, I can't put my markers, pencils and crayons down in this class!  Who doesn't love color?  Here are some of the projects I've completed...

Mahalo...

I just had to have two of the new Memory Box dies...and I had a card idea in mind the minute I saw them.  I got them today and wanted to play with them immediately.  I wasn't sure what color to use for the Hibiscus flowers so I searched the net and found a beautiful color combo to use on my flowers.

     

I want to dedicate the card to my friend, Kerry.  Mahalo, Kerry!!  She travelled to our favorite store yesterday - Absolutely Everything - and brought me back some goodies (macaroons and cake balls)...YUMMO!!  I am about to go and devour them with my husband.  :-)  Thanks again, Kerry...you're the best!!

Finally, with camera in hand, I caught a couple pics of tonight's sunset as I was going to take a picture of my yummy goodies.  What a cool sunset!  I probably should've used a different setting on the camera, but the sun was setting quickly and I had to snap away.  Have a GREAT rest of the week!

My Favorite Tag Ever...

Tim posted another GREAT tag for the month of June.  I knew the minute I saw the technique which photo I wanted to use.  I had just been looking at our vacation photos from our Disney Cruise to Alaska last August.  This is my husband's favorite picture and I was playing with it and had just created a version in black & white.  There wasn't a lot of areas to color, but using Tim's technique of coloring with Distress Inks, I added yellow on the bow of the ship, a red stripe, stormy sky blue in between cloud breaks and some green on the sides of the ship.  The color is subtle, but the overall tag is striking...and it's my favorite tag ever!  Have a wonderful week!

May's Tag...

I can't believe it's been an entire month since I posted anything.  So sorry, but this is a very busy time of year with work.  I did manage to free up an entire weekend to take all of Tim's classes at Absolutely Everything last weekend and I have some fun pictures to share (thanks, Kerry!).  I'll try and do that later this week, but I want to finish up my projects first.  Needless to say, it was a blast!!

I took some time yesterday to create my May tag.  I had some difficulty creating my faux porcelain roses, but realized that you can't use the insert tray...the UTEE just cools off too quickly.  Once I figured that out, I really enjoyed creating the roses!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

One more thing...

Something about last month's tag kept bothering me.  I didn't really care for the space below the bird, so I changed it up.  I like this version much better!  I added some Prima roses and added paint to the phrase charm.  I'm happy now.  :-)
